Washington, DC<\/em> \u2014 Following\non the heels of the failed U.S.-North Korea summit in Hanoi, a delegation of\nSouth Korean women parliamentarians and civil society leaders will be in\nWashington, DC on March 11-13 to meet with U.S. members of Congress about\ngetting diplomacy back on track for peace on the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South Korean Parliamentarians \u2014 Kwon\nMi-hyuk, Lee Jae-jung, and Je Youn-kyung, all members of the Democratic Party\nof Korea \u2014 will hold\nclosed-door meetings, roundtables, and a public event with members of the U.S.\nCongress. Among the members of Congress they are scheduled to meet with are\nRep. Barbara Lee, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Rep. Andy Kim,\nRep. Tulsi Gabbard, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, Rep. Grace Meng, and Rep. Carolyn\nMaloney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South Korean delegation is part\nof the official launch of the global campaign <\/em>Korea Peace Now! Women Mobilizing\nto the End the War<\/a>.<\/em> Co-founded by Women\nCross DMZ<\/a>, Nobel Women\u2019s Initiative<\/a>, Women\u2019s\nInternational League for Peace and Freedom<\/a>, and the Korean Women\u2019s Movement for Peace, the\ncampaign is part of a growing movement pushing for an end to war and lasting\npeace on the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hear how women are stepping\nup their efforts to push for peace in Korea and how the U.S. Congress can lead\nthe way for a new U.S. policy on North Korea that will improve security for\neveryone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Side Event to the United Nations Commission on the\nStatus of Women (CSW)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women Cross DMZ, Nobel Women\u2019s Initiative,\nWomen\u2019s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), and Korean Women\u2019s\nMovement for Peace will hold a civil society side event to launch a global\ncampaign: \u201cKorea Peace Now! Women Mobilizing to End the Korean War.\u201d The event\nwill provide a space for the international women\u2019s movement to gain an\nincreased understanding of the women-led peace campaign, and what actions they\ncan take to support peace on the Korean Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
